Fajr festival to host second “Hollywoodism and Cinema” conference

TEHRAN,Dec.12(MNA) -- Organizers of the 30th Fajr International Film Festival plan to hold the international conference “Hollywoodism and Cinema” once again this year. The conference in its first edition last year brought in spectacular achievements, secretary of the festival Mohammad Khazaei said here on Sunday. Iran is the only country where a conference on Hollywoodism can be organized to discuss the cinema of Hollywood, he said, adding, “To study Hollywood and its inner contents apart from its artistic and industrial capabilities is a new approach,” he said. He also said that the major goal is to create a new approach in Iranian and international cinema and, being concurrent with Fajr festival, the conference will surely result in international consequences. “To study the influence of the Western cinema under the title Hollywoodism has always been stressed by the Supreme Leader and the conference will be a good place where artists, scholars and cineastes will get together and exchange views,” he added. A detailed agenda of conference topics will be announced soon. The Fajr film festival will be held in February in Tehran and several other provinces.
