Finance and National Economy hails the launch of data centre

Manama, Mar.30 (BNA): Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa stressed the importance of the the sector of telecommunications and information technology in supporting national development in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He underlined the vital role of this sector in providing innovative digital solutions that support economic sectors and bolstering Bahrain’s standing as a major hub for telecommunications and information technology as part of the comprehensive development strides led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He stressed Bahrain’s keenness on developing this vital sector, supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He made the statement during his meeting with Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed and Saudi STC Group Chief Executive Officer Olayan Mohammed Al-Wetaid and STC Bahrain CEO Nezar Hussain Banabeela. The meeting was held on the occasion of the launch of the first data center of its kind in the region through partnership with stc Bahrain, which is considered one of the largest technology projects in the region. The hub aims to build an integrated digital center in the Middle East and invest in advanced technologies to contribute effectively in the field of communications and information technology. The minister stressed the importance of continuing to strengthen the digital infrastructure that supports the communications and information technology sector, and working to keep pace with technological development, which will have an impact on the national economy. He pointed out the ministry’s keenness to enhance aspects of cooperation and joint work with the private sector in a way that contributes to achieving the desired goals. During the meeting, a number of issues of common interest were discussed, and the latest developments related to the information and communication technology sector were reviewed.
