Finance Minister participates in Arab ministerial meeting

Amman, Apr. 10 (BNA): Finance Minister Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa led Bahrain’s delegation to the Joint Annual Meetings of Arab Financial Institutions and the 9th Annual Meeting of Arab Ministers of Finance, inaugurated in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan by its Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Dr Jafar Hassan. The annual reports of the Arab financial institutions were reviewed during the meetings, along with a follow-up of their plans and schemes and the nomination of their auditors for the fiscal year 2018. The Arab Financial Institutions consist of five entities, namely Arab Monetary Fund, Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, Arab Investment & Export Credit Guarantee Corporation, Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa and Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development. The Arab ministers discussed in their meeting the latest financial and economic developments on the regional and global levels, as well as a working paper prepared by the World Bank on fostering public–private partnerships in Arab countries, and the role of multilateral development banks in this respect. They also reviewed a working paper on subsidy policies in Arab countries, which was prepared by the Arab Monetary Fund.
