Firm procedures regarding non-accredited certificates stressed

Manama, Aug. 25 (BNA): Following an edict by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to re-form the Academic Accreditation Committee, Dr. Muna Mohammed Al Balushi, the committee Head, extended heartfelt thanks and appreciation to HRH the Premier for the edict, praising his directives to task the Higher Education Council and its specialised committees to ascertain of the information regarding certificates granted by non-recognised overseas universities and ensure that no one relied on such certificates to qualify to jobs or promotions. Dr. Al Balushi affirmed the Education Ministry’s keenness to carry out the directives of HRH the Premier by taking firm procedures regarding this issue. She added a report will be submitted on potential cases and ways of dealing with them. She also underline the need to inform students wishing to pursue their education abroad on regulations and guidance criteria before joining any overseas higher education institution. She pointed out that the committee with handle violating cases immediately after reporting them in coordination with relevant parties like the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, the Labour and Social Affairs Ministry, the Civil Service Bureau, the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, the National Committee for the Evaluation of Academic Qualifications and the professions practising committees.
