First observatory in Turkey's east opened in Malatya

MALATYA (A.A) - February 14, 2012 - Inonu University established the first observatory of Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions of Turkey in Malatya city in order to contribute studies on space sciences. Following the test run, the observatory will begin to collect scientific data. Also, Astronomy and Space Sciences Department, which was opened together with the observatory, will begin to accept students in the next education term. The department's deputy head Tuncay Ozdemir told AA on Tuesday that Inonu University established the ninth observatory of Turkey, adding that it was the first observatory in Turkey's east. We will begin to collect scientific data within ten days, he added.
