Five Countries Participate In SeaMAF 2012

Padangpanjang, W Sumatra, Nov 27 (ANTARA) - Delegations from five countries are taking part in the Southeast Asian Malay Art Festival (SeaMAF 2012), held from November 25-29, in Padangpanjang, West Sumatra, according to an academician. "The countries participating in SeaMAF 2012 are Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei Darussalam, and the Netherlands," Padangpanjang`s Indonesia Institute of Art (ISI) rector Mahdi Bahar said here on Sunday. He noted that Sea MAF 2012 was being sponsored by the Indonesia Art Colleges Cooperation Agency, which chose ISI Padangpanjang to host the event. "It is an honour for ISI Pandangpanjang to host the festival and demonstrate that the wealth of Malay art is of exceptional value," Bahar stated. He pointed out that the five countries taking part in the event �have a deep connection with the Malay culture�. "The presence of the delegations from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei Darussalam, and the Netherlands will strengthen the Malay culture and help revive regional arts, especially those from West Sumatra," Bahar said.
