Flood continues in Phitsanulok

PHISANULOK, Oct 19 (TNA) - Flood in the lower northern province of Phitsanulok has extended to wider areas in flood-prone Bang Rakham district. Almost 60 villages have been submerged while charitable organisations used flat-bottomed boats to help local residents move their belongings to safe areas. The floodwater is as high as two metres in some places, forcing flood victims to evacuate to their relatives’ houses as they can no longer stay on the second floor of their homes. Meanwhile, a senior irrigation official said rain continues in upstream Phrae province, so more flood water will flow down to three districts of Phisanulok in the next few days. He instructed villagers in those areas to move their belongings to much higher ground to prevent damage from upcoming flood. (TNA)
