Flood threat over Sukhothai

BANGKOK, Oct 9 (TNA) – The Royal Irrigation Department has dispatched eight water pumps and more than 300 sandbags to protect Sukhothai hospital after the water in two reservoirs reach full capacity and pose a flood threat to the province. Thongplaew Kongchan, Deputy Director of the Royal Irrigation Department said the swollen water has flowed into the spillway and will be diverted into a water detention area and the Yom River. However, the large amount of water may cause flooding to Sukhothai hospital, government offices, temples and local communities. The provincial irrigation office alerted local authority and related agencies to issue a warning for local residents. Officials have closely monitored the situation, which is expected to ease if there is no more rain. (TNA)
