Floods Inundate Hundreds of Houses in West Pasaman

Simpang Ampek, W Sumatra, June 12 (Antara) - Floods have submerged hundreds of houses in Sungai Aur and Lembah Melintang sub-districts in West Pasaman District, West Sumatra Province, following incessant heavy rains since Thursday. Several rice fields in three villages were also affected by the flooding, Admad Batubara, a local official of Sungai Aur sub-district, stated here on Friday. The local authorities have deployed personnel to help evacuate the flood victims by using rubber boats. Some public facilities such as schools and places of worship were also flooded after several rivers in the district breached their banks.
