Flotilla From Suzhou, China Sails Away With Best Overall Title in Putrajaya Floria 2012

PUTRAJAYA, July 9 (Bernama) -- Suzhou, China competing in the 1Malaysia Putrajaya International Floria 2012 themed 'Magic of the Night' swept the overall top prize for the Best Boat category. Suzhou also won third place in the Best Lighted Boat category. The parade of the decorated flotillas, which gracefully cruised along a 3km stretch of the Putrajaya waterfront, started on June 30, and paraded 15 boats. Flotillas from Malaysia's east coast state of Terengganu and northern state of Perak won second and third places respectively. Three other categories contested were Most Creative Boat, Best Lighted Up Boat and Most Popular Boat. A flotilla from Kenya, Africa, competing for the first time won the Most Creative Boat category, followed by Negeri Sembilan and Sarawak, while the Best Lighted Up category was won by East Malaysia state of Sabah, Putrajaya Corporation and Suzhou in that order. Putrajaya Corporation also won the Most Popular Boat category. Flotillas from the states of Johor, Melaka, Terengganu, Sarawak, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Sabah, Lembaga Pembangunan Langkawi (LADA), Putrajaya Corporation, China and Africa took part in the competition.
