FM Minister meets UN chief

New York, Sept. 28 (BNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness the Prime Minister, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, and their wishes to him of further success in leading the United Nations. This came as the Minister of Foreign Affairs met with the Secretary-General on the sidelines of the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The UN Secretary-General noted the Kingdom’s policy of cooperation with the United Nations and its vital role in preserving peace and security in the region. For his part, Shaikh Khalid hailed the efforts of the UN Secretary-General to develop the work of the organization on peace and security, sustainable development, and other issues and challenges facing the countries of the world. He reiterated the Kingdom’s solidarity with the Secretary-General’s endeavors to achieve a more prosperous future for all countries, wishing him further success.
