Foreign Ambassadors, High Commissioners To Attend National Youth Day Celebration

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), May 24 (Bernama) -- Foreign Ambassadors and High Commissioners to Malaysia will witness the Million Youth Gathering 2012 carnival held in conjunction with the National Youth Day this year, said Malaysian Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Razali Ibrahim. He said for the first time, Ambassadors and High Commissioners to Malaysia would be taken on a tour during the exhibition and would witness the activities held at the carnival. "42 foreign ambassadors and high commissioners have agreed to have a walkabout this Friday which is expected to begin at 4pm. "We will make sure they are impressed with the organization of this event... they will be able to participate in the celebration next year," he told reporters after launching the Malaysia World Milk Day celebration in conjunction with the Million Youth Gathering here Wednesday. Also present at the event were Deputy Health Minister of Malaysia Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin and Dutch Lady Milk Industries Berhad Managing Director, Rahul Colaco. Among the ambassadors and high commissioners attending the event are from France, China, Cuba, Argentina, Japan, Cambodia, Brunei, Indonesia, Algeria and Bangladesh. He said the visit of these foreign officials would give a good impression to the international community that youths in Malaysia are positive, and full of energy and creativity. Meanwhile, Razali said among the main attractions of the gathering this year was the largest World Youth Jazz Festival to date, which is poised to create a World Record. "This is an achievement which has seen contribution made by youths positively...it is a recognition for youths in Malaysia," he said. The World Youth Jazz Festival will be held in Dataran Gemilang (Putrajaya, Malaysia) and among the bands performing include Dino Fiumara Trio (USA), Lektron (Germany), Cats in Love (Malaysia), Diana Liu (Malaysia), Morning Smile (Indonesia), 57Kustik (Indonesia), Benjamin Trio (Singapore), and Dhruv Band (India). -- BERNAMA
