Foreign minister meets Suriname counterpart

Manama, Sep. 20 (BNA): Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa met his Suriname counterpart Niermala Badrising on the sidelines of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly meeting held in New York. Shaikh Khalid affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to bolster cooperation and strengthen ties with the Republic of Suriname in various fields, particularly in the economic field in view of the cooperation opportunities available in the banking sector. He noted the importance of the exchange of visits by officials from the two countries for new opportunities related to joint ties as well as to bolster coordination at international gatherings towards various issues. The Foreign Minister of Suriname expressed her country’s appreciation of friendship with Bahrain, affirming her keenness to bolster joint ties for the benefit of the two countries.
