Foreign Minister meets US Congressmen

Washington, July24 (BNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa, met in Washington with the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Bob Corker, and the senior Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Robert Menendez, during his official visit to the United States of America.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to further strengthen relations of friendship between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States of America, as well as develop coordination between the two countries on issues of mutual interest, to enable them to deal with various challenges, support efforts to resolve crises in the region and to establish security and stability.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the prosperity and progress in bilateral relations, which affirms the keenness of the two friendly countries to promote joint cooperation at all levels. Shaikh Khalid also met with member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Darrell Issa, where they discussed the historical relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States of America and means of enhancing them in various fields.
The Minister affirmed that the continuous development of relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States of America is due to its long history, strong foundations and constructive communication between the two friendly countries, as well as their keenness to develop cooperation and joint coordination to serve the interests of both countries and their peoples. The meeting also discussed the most important developments on the regional and international arenas and issues of common concern.
