Foreign Minister participates in GCC-British ministerial meeting

Jeddah, May 29 (BNA): Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, participated in the 5th Joint ministerial meeting between the GCC countries and the United Kingdom which convened todayin Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Foreign Ministers reviewed cooperation in the economic, trade, investment, energy, environment, political, security, educational, cultural and tourism fields as well as promoting communication between peoples. They hailed the British proposal to hold a conference in October on partnership between the private and public sectors and its role in the implementation of national transformation and economic diversity in the GCC member States. The Proposed conference shall be held at the historical residence of the Lord Mayor of London. The meeting also underlined the importance of carrying out the joint work plan. Both sides also discussed a number of regional and international issues of common concern, particularly the latest developments in Syria, Yemen, Iraq and relations with Iran. (MOFA)
