Foreign Minister participates in international conference on Christianity in Bahrain

New York, Sept. 25 (BNA): Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa participated in a special conference on the "History of Christianity in Bahrain", which was organised by the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence. The conference was held on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 74), in the presence of Cabinet Affairs Minister Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Mutawa and President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa. The Minister welcomed the attendees and appreciated their keenness to participate in the conference, which reflects the outstanding efforts of King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence to promote the values of coexistence and dialogue at the international level. Shaikh Khalid affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is a leading model in religious coexistence in the world thanks to the high care and tireless initiatives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at the regional and international levels to consolidate peaceful coexistence and constructive dialogue among all religions and peoples. The Minister of Foreign Affairs said Christians are an integral part of the society, highly appreciated and interacting freely like other followers of other religions who have lived for centuries in a civilised society. The Christians, he said, are playing their role in the development of the Kingdom of Bahrain and everyone is proud of this legacy and works under the leadership of His Majesty the King to protect and promote it, especially in light of the changes and challenges facing the region.
