Foreign Minister stresses Bahrain’s commitment to peace

Manama, Apr.4 (BNA): Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani commended the humanitarian approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in spreading the culture of tolerance, peace, and coexistence, deepening dialogue and mutual understanding among all religions, cultures, and civilizations, and consolidating international solidarity and global partnership as basic pillars for regional and global security and peace and supporting the goals of sustainable development.
He expressed his pride in the celebration of the International Day of Conscience, which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly (resolution No. 329/73 issued on July 25, 2019) based on the initiative presented by the late His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa/
The initiative recognizes the importance of global conscience in the concerted efforts of the international community to establish peace and tolerance, and to save humanity from the scourge of wars and conflicts, and to renounce violence and hatred, towards a secure and sustainable world of harmony, peaceful coexistence and human brotherhood.
Dr. Al Zayani underlined Bahrain’s keenness under the leadership of His Majesty the King, and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to support the efforts of the international community to establish security and reach a just and comprehensive peace in the region and the world, as a strategic option.
This approach stems from Bahrain’s historical human valuesin establishing relations between nations and civilizations on the basis of cordiality, understanding, and dialogue, and within the framework of adherence to the principles of international legitimacy, respect for regional and international conventions, and a commitment to safeguarding human rights and dignity for all without distinction as to race, gender or religion.
He noted that the world's celebration of the Day of Conscience comes in line with the many Bahraini initiatives since the launch of the comprehensive development process of His Majesty the King, most notably being: the Bahrain Declaration, The King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, the King Hamad Chair in Inter-Faith Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence at Sapienza University in Italy, Manama Dialogue.
He also cited many international awards for the empowerment of women, youth and service to humanity, and the continuation of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF) in providing relief and development assistance to all affected and needy people, and other initiatives that support the security, safety, and prosperity of mankind.
He stressed that the current international challenges and risks human conscience in stopping wars and conflicts and their causes, freeing the region and the world from weapons of mass destruction, directing resources and wealth for sustainable development, addressing the problems of poverty, hunger, and epidemics, especially in the least developed countries, and consolidating the values of tolerance, brotherhood, justice, and coexistence among religions, cultures, and civilizations, and international solidarity, adding that His Majesty the King emphasized that this is the only way towards providing a secure, prosperous and sustainable life for all mankind.
He thanked all the ministry’sstaff and diplomatic missions abroad for their relentless patriotic efforts in highlighting the Kingdom of Bahrain as a model of tolerance and support for regional and global peace, and for their active participation within Team Bahrain under the leadership of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister.
He hailed their achievements that deserved high-level national honor by awarding them the "Prince Salman bin Hamad Medal for Medical Merit", and earned them the appreciation of international organizations and the respect of the world as a humanitarian and civilized example in combating the coronavirus pandemic.
