Foreign Ministry participates in international exhibition

Dubai, Apr. 9 (BNA): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is taking part in the Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition, which opened today in Dubai under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.  The event is organised by the Dubai Government Excellence Programme under the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of Dubai under the theme 'Local Government and Global Achievements', with the participation of a host of government organisations from various countries.  The electronic diplomatic services offered by the Directorate of Protocol and Conventions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for diplomatic missions was among the government authorities taking part in the exhibition. The program has successfully facilitated processing and facilitating procedures and performances while benefiting from technological developments and modern technologies.  The development of the ‘protocol e-service’ is part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' keenness to apply best practices, to strive for leadership and to provide the latest electronic services that come in line with international quality standards, and to minimize paper transactions while ensuring accuracy and speed of delivery.  This system includes the provision of a variety of services to the embassies accredited to the Kingdom of Bahrain in an effective electronic manner that ensures the smooth process of official transactions such as issuing visas and residence for diplomats, issuing diplomatic plates, driving licenses, customs and municipal exemptions and managing cards and permits for the airport.  This system has been in operation since 2012, and until now the Department of Protocol and Conventions managed to transfer 70% of its paper services to fast and distinctive electronic services.  The selection of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to participate in the Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition reflects its success in introducing the latest best practices and the latest systems that contribute to the development of work and the spread of a culture of excellence and innovation among its employees.
