Foreign Ministry Undersecretary delivers lecture at Oman’s Diplomatic Institute

Muscat, Jan. 25 (BNA): The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, has affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman are continuing their efforts to achieve comprehensive sustainable development goals at high rates. He noted that government plans and programs in the two brotherly countries have contributed to diversifying the economic sectors and contained the repercussions of the Corona pandemic. This came during a lecture delivered today by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs at the Diplomatic Institute of the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The lecture was delivered in the presence of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman for Diplomatic Affairs, Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, a number of ministry officials and Arab ambassadors accredited to the Sultanate. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah explained that Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and Oman’s vision 2040 represent a strategic choice in order to diversify the sources of national income, provide opportunities for all, involve the private sector in the development process, and raise the volume of foreign direct investment in GDP. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the enlightened and wise leadership in the Kingdom of Bahrain has shaped the present and future of the Kingdom through a comprehensive modernization project, in order to lay the foundations of the modern civil state, in line with local values and identity. The launch of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, he added, came as a pioneering national document, to make e a transition from an economy based on oil to a productive economy capable of global competition. “It aims to ensure a decent and safe life for all citizens and indeed, the vision has attained many gains in various fields, and the Kingdom’s position as a regional banking, commercial, technical and tourism centre has been strengthened.”” Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa reviewed many indicators that show the extent of progress in various human, economic, social, health, cultural and environmental fields, through investing in the citizen, and creating ways and opportunities that guarantee him access to his basic requirements, through high quality services, combining a stage of smart oil economy, and a second stage of digital economy and innovation. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah added that at the same time, the Sultanate of Oman, under the directives of its wise leadership, drew a road map towards ambitious national development, based on people and society, economy and development, governance and institutional performance, in order to enhance economic prosperity. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa expressed his pride in the positive and qualitative contributions of women in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman in various fields under a distinguished and sustainable partnership. Environmental protection is also an essential element in the two countries, and this interest is reflected in many effective steps and measures to combat climate change and ensure a decent life for future generations.” The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs indicated that, given the advantages of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman, there is an appropriate ground for achieving economic integration and strengthening the strategic partnership between them, based on a long history, a promising future, and the love and affection that bind the leadership and peoples of the two brotherly countries.
