Funeral of Late Kim Yang Gon Held

Pyongyang, January 1 (KCNA) -- A state funeral of Kim Yang Gon, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and deputy to the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, took place here on Thursday. Present there were senior party, state and army officials, members of the state funeral committee, officials of party, armed forces and power organs, the Cabinet, ministries and national institutions and family members of the deceased. Bereaved family members and members of the state funeral committee observed a moment's silence in memory of the deceased before his coffin was carried out of the Sojang Club. The hearse left for the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery in Sinmi-ri. Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, said in a eulogy that the death of Kim Yang Gon, genuine revolutionary and able political activist, was a great loss to the party and people. Though his heart stopped beating, the feats he performed for the party, the revolution, the country and its people will last forever. Placed before the grave was a wreath bearing the august name of Marshal Kim Jong Un. Also laid were wreaths in the names of the C.C., the WPK, the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK and the DPRK Cabinet. All the participants observed a moment's silence in memory of the deceased. -0-
