GCC discusses ways to boost employment opportunities for Gulf nationals

Muscat, Sept. 4 (BNA): Plans to boost employment opportunities for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) citizens and support for policies and plans to hire more GCC nationals across the six member states have topped the agenda of the GCC labor and social development ministers' meeting in Muscat.
The ministers also reviewed the transformation of guiding mechanisms and laws into national regulations and laws to enhance joint work in the technical and specialized fields were discussed by their ministers in the Omani capital.
They also reviewed finalizing the plans of qualification, standard and professional tests in order to reduce the recruitment of unskilled labor and provide adequate conditions for the employment of Gulf nationals in the private sector.
Bahrain's Labor and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan said that Bahrain was keen on enhancing joint action within the GCC and bolstering cooperation and the exchange of successful experiences and expertise.
Humaidan, who led the Bahraini delegation to the meeting, said the GCC countries were keen on achieving sustainable developments through concerted efforts that would empower them to face regional and international economic and development challenges with confidence.
