GCC Red Crescent Day date set

Manama, Oct. 23 (BNA): Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) Board of Directors Chairman, Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al Khalifa has extended congratulations to the kingdom’s leadership following the declaration of the red cred crescent societies across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) of October 23 to be an annual GCC Red Crescent Day. The announcement reflects the existing coordination and complementarity among GCC Red Crescent societies, he said. Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid explained that the date for making the GCC Red Crescent Day was selected as it coincided with the date on which the first meeting of GCC Red Crescent societies was held in Abu Dhabi in 1984. He asserted that GCC Red Crescent societies have coordinated with the GCC Secretariat-General to deliver relief aid to refugees and migrants in Syria, Iraq and Yemen, as well as in other countries of the world. He underlined BRCS’ keenness on cooperating with its GCC counterparts to respond to calls for help emanating from areas affected by conflicts and wars.
