General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority Organizes Meeting for Representatives of GCC Civil Retirement Bodies

Doha, October 06 (QNA) - The General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority organized an introductory meeting for the representative of the civil retirement and social security bodies of Gulf countries, employers and Gulf citizens working in the State of Qatar at Marsa Malaz Kempinski hotel on Wednesday. The meeting was held in cooperation with the civil retirement and social security bodies of Gulf countries.
The aim of the meeting was to serve Gulf citizens working in the State of Qatar in regards to the unified system for extending insurance protection, as well as complete their dealings and transactions and answer their inquiries regarding subscriptions and related insurance rights. The meeting was attended by nearly 700 citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries working in Qatar, who were interviewed by representatives of the Civil retirement and social insurance.
It is important to note that the introductory meeting is held periodically among member states, on the sidelines of the meeting of the permanent technical committee for civil retirement and social security bodies in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
In a related context, the work of the 52nd meeting of the permanent technical committee for civil retirement and social security bodies in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region concluded in Doha. The meeting, which was held over two days, discussed several initiatives, including training and rehabilitation, the unified annual awareness campaign, the initiative for coordination and participation in international events, the development of collection mechanisms, procedures for employers to pay contributions, presentation of statistical indicators for the application of the unified system to extend insurance protection, and targeting workers who are not registered in the unified system according to direct coordination.
The meeting also reviewed the challenges related to paying subscriptions to banks, as well as the initiative of periodic seminars. It discussed the proposal for the civil pension funds and social security award for scientific research, and honoring the leading figures in the field of civil retirement and social insurance, in addition to presenting the topics submitted by member states.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a report was prepared on the studies related to the reform of civil retirement and social security systems for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, together with the necessary recommendations, in preparation for presenting it to their Excellencies, heads of civil retirement and social security agencies in the Gulf Cooperation Council at their next meeting, which will be held in Riyadh.
