Germanischer Lloyd Showcases Intelligent Software For Crew Management At APM 2012

SINGAPORE, March 16 (Bernama) -- While seeking higher operational efficiency of its vessels, the shipping industry has to also focus on its most valued asset, the crewmen. At the three-day Asia Pacific Maritime exhibition which ends today, Germanischer Lloyd (GL), showcased the GL CrewManager, as an efficient software tool to ensure efficient crew management and compliance with related rules and regulations, such as the forthcoming Maritime Labor Convention, 2006 (MLC 2006). GL Maritime Software, South Asia/Oceania director, Dominic Ng said:” This intelligent software solution enables ship operators to provide solid evidence to demonstrate compliance and importantly, helps manage this process easily. "This benefit is derived from such functions of the software as crew data management, crew history record and management reports & statistics, which allows ship operators to keep track of all vital data, contracts, crew retention, appraisals, crew status and such. "Also, leveraging its crew planning and scheduling function, the operators can optimise crew deployment in line with relevant safe manning requirements." GL’s Maritime Software unit is a software provider and system integrator for the maritime industry. Germanischer Lloyd (GL) offers classification services of plan approval, inspection and certification of materials and components as well as technical assessments of ships in service. -- BERNAMA
