Global Warming Board approves plan to lower greenhouse gas emissions
BANGKOK, Feb 10 (TNA) -- Thailand's Global Warming Board has approved a roadmap to reduce the release of the greehouse gas (GHG) by 20 per cent within 2030.
Deputy Premier/Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwon, in his capacity as the chairman of the National Commission on Climate Change Policy or the Global Warming Board, has said the committee has approved the roadmap for GHG emission reduction by 20 per cent as targeted by the year 2030.
He said concerned agencies have been tasked to draft up a plan to lower GHG emissions in order to achieve the goal, especially in the transport and industrial sectors which have emitted high volume of GHG.
After the board has further approved of the draft, it would forward the plan to the Cabinet in order to allocate a budget for the operation and task each agency to do as directed, so as to lower GHG emissions as targeted.
The Deputy PM noted that Thailand is also required to report in the GHG emission figures to the United Nations (UN) every two years as well. (TNA)
