GPIC achieves highest production record

Manama, Oct. 27 (BNA): The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) has set a so far produced 40 million tonnes of Ammonia, Methanol and Urea.
The Company organized a celebration to mark the achievement where it highlighted efforts to attain the highest levels of efficiency and productivity at the highest standards of occupational health and safety.
Speaking on the occasion, GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery this success came after many years of professional and sincere work from those working at the Company who are keen to adhere to the principles of a clean industry.
He said the Company had now become a global entity and had set new yardsticks in not only production and export of fertilizers and their products, but also on its presence in the largest regional and global markets.
Dr. Jawahery praised the professionalism of employees who worked with dedication and in a professional manner, displaying grit and determination, putting their collective experience to good use.
Dr. Jawahery also applauded the sound approach and flexible policies set by the Board of Directors, which focussed on putting employees first. He said they worked hard to provide all possible opportunities to develop employees’ skills and enhance their professionalism, while taking part in conferences within and outside Bahrain, which contributed to creating a professional workforce.
He spoke of the efforts of the Executive Management in following up on the implementation of the policies, plans and programmes set by the Board of Directors, whether related to the development of human elements or on operations, to ensure full compliance with safety. He said the Executive Team and all the employees came together as one family to implement the Company's strategy and strengthen the spirit of work to continue the march of success and industrial excellence.
Dr. Jawahery said all this contributed to achieving the highest production rates and reiterated GPIC would continue to work towards achieving more records and keeping pace with its ambitions through its commitment to the highest standards of quality, health and safety despite numerous challenges and the difficulties experienced by the markets.
He said the Companywould not have been able to maintain such growth if it were not for the support and guidance of Bahrain’s wise Leadership, which ensured its success and turned the country into an oasis of successful investment.
He said the Company would continue its plans to support and development the employees by providing training programmes that would increase and enhance their efficiency and competitiveness as well as enrich their knowledge and experiences to meet challenges and difficulties now and in the future.
GPICstarted operating itsAmmonia and Methanol plants in 1985 while the Urea plant went on stream in 1998. Since then, the Company has seen a growth in its operations, which has resulted in records, not only in production, operations and exports, but also in the field of maintenance and occupational safety as an example of a clean and successful industry in the region.
This is due to raising awareness and a commitment to following up on safety as one of the success factors. GPIC has also been able to create a record of non-stop working hours without a lost time accident.
GPIC is equally owned by three major government institutions - the National Oil and Gas Authority of Bahrain, the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) of Saudi Arabia and the Petrochemical Industries Company of the Kuwait.
