GPIC holds lecture on cancer awareness

Manama, Apr. 1 (BNA): The Health Committee of the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) has held a lecture on "What you should know about Cancer," delivered by Dr. Abdulrahman Fakhro, President of the Bahrain Cancer Society, who particularly addressed issues on cancer early detection. In a statement, GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery thanked the Committee for organising the lecture and said early screening can avoid diseases that pose a major threat to the lives of people. He also thanked Dr. Fakhro for his contribution in spreading awareness on the society’s programmes and activities. The Committee regularly organises such lectures on various topics in addition to organising activities in cooperation with the company’s other committees. It has also organised special campaigns to donate blood and has taken part in marathons to educate the community, besides hosting campaigns on nutrition and diseases along with organising first aid courses for employees.
