Health delegation visits Jordan

Amman, Mar. 12 (BNA): A High-level delegation led by National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mariam Adhbi Al-Jalahma paid a visit to Amman to get an update on stem cell clinical researches at the University of Jordan.
The delegation held a meeting with University of Jordan President Dr. Azmi Mahafzah and discussed cooperation to lay the necessary regulations for the stem cell researches. It expressed desire to benefit from the Jordanian stem cell therapies and research strategies and regulations as part of plants to set up a similar project in Bahrain.
Dr. Azmi Mahafzah expressed readiness to build bridges of cooperation, pointing out the University of Jordan started stem cell researches in 2008 and has since achieved significant strides. King Abdulla II ibn Al-Hussein of Jordan inaugurated the Cell Therapy Centre (CTC) in 2016.
The delegation toured the Cell Therapy Centre (CTC) and met its director Abdullah Abbadi and other officials. Affiliated with the University of Jordan, Cell Therapy Centre (CTC) employs fifty researchers, nine of whom hold PhD degrees.
The Supreme Council for Health (SCH) has set up a teamwork, chaired by Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland - Medical University of Bahrain (MUB) Professor Sameer Otoom, to submit a proposal on regulating clinical researches on stem cells in Bahrain.
