Health minister meets WHO expert

Manama, Feb. 26 (BNA): Health Minister Faeqa bint Said Al-Saleh received World Health Organisation (WHO) Medical Emergencies Expert for East Mediterranean Dr. William Nielson. The two sides discussed plans to establish medical emergency teams to deal with urgent cases and potential disasters in the Kingdom of Bahrain. A network is set to be established in the region to deal with emergencies and accidents. The meeting was attended by assistant undersecretaries and liaison officers in charge of coordinating the emergency programmes with the Geneva-based World Health Organisation (WHO). Al-Saleh stressed the ministry’s keenness on consolidating coordination between competent parties in the fields of training and emergency preparations for disasters. She underlined the importance of continuing cooperation with the WHO experts to train the ministry’s personnel to deal with emergencies and potential disasters by holding a workshop in Bahrain.
