Health minister receives British ambassador

Manama, Apr. 18 (BNA): Health Minister Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh today received the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Simon Martin, and his accompanying delegation, to explore bilateral relations in the health fields. The minister praised the two countries' excellent historic bilateral ties, asserting the importance of boosting the fruitful cooperation in areas of training, field visits by British consultants, and exchange of medical expertise. During the meeting, the two sides discussed various topics of mutual interest and ways of benefiting from British expertise in the health sector. The minister cited the physicians visit programme in line with the directives of the leadership, indicating the ministry's desire to host British medical expertise in some micro medical specialistions to conduct surgical procedures and train medical staff in Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC). From his side, the ambassador praised the ministry's efforts in developing its healthcare and medical services, affirming his country's keenness on bolstering the cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain in all fields, especially in the health field, and that Britain was ready to provide all possible assistance to implement the aspirations of Bahrain's Health Ministry through the cooperation between the two friendly kingdoms and in everything that will contribute to upgrading the standard of healthcare and medical services provided by the ministry. Towards the conclusion of their meeting, the minister expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the ambassador for his keenness on boosting the health-related cooperation, wishing him all success in his duties in boosting the bilateral cooperation, asserting she will continue to tirelessly develop the health sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The ambassador thanked the minister for the welcoming reception and hospitality.
