Heavy rain will not affect royal crematorium

BANGKOK, Oct 17 (TNA) --The construction of the royal crematorium and related buildings has been completed and heavy downpours will have no impacts, Deputy Prime Minister Tanasak Patimapragorn said. As the chair of the government committee supervising the construction, Gen Tanasak said scaffoldings in the middle section of the crematorium had yet to be removed and officials would rehearse the installation of the royal nine-tiered umbrella of the royal pyre on Oct 17. “After the royal nine-tiered umbrella is installed, the scaffoldings will be removed and everything will be officially completed,” Gen Tanasak said. He also said that concerned organizations prepared well to cope with heavy rain and sewers were dredged. According to him, flower plants will blossom on ceremonial days and they together with rice will remain until the end of November when people will be visiting exhibitions there. Rehearsals of royal processions on Oct 15 were successful and some points of them will be improved. “Other countries pay special attention to the royal ceremonies. They wonder why Thai people love the Thai royalty and King Rama IX so much. The King had worked for the country for life. The love and unity will be preserved for national security. The royal crematorium was completed in 9 months despite its 10-month schedule. This results from cooperation from all parties and volunteers from all regions,” Gen Tanasak said. He also said that hotels near ceremonial venues were fully booked. (TNA)
