HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa guest of honour at British Embassy event to celebrate Queen’s 90th birthday

Manama, Apr 27 (BNA): On behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, son of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, this evening attended a British Embassy event to celebrate the 90th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The event was hosted by Britain’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Simon Martin CMG, and saw His Highness deliver a guest of honour speech to over 500 assembled guests and dignitaries.
His Highness Shaikh Isa took delight in conveying both His Majesty’s and the Kingdom of Bahrain’s warmest wishes to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and the people of Britain, saying that "the congratulatory messages extended from all corners of the globe demonstrate the world’s admiration and respect for Her Majesty."
His Highness went on to highlight that Bahrain’s "well wishes are delivered at a particularly fitting juncture, during a year in which we celebrate the 200th anniversary of Bahrain-UK relations," and that "Bahrain-UK relations are stronger than ever and the bicentennial partnership is thriving."
As a graduate of the United Kingdom’s Britannia Royal Naval College, His Highness noted his personal awareness of the "influence and standard Her Majesty sets for those wishing to pursue a life of public service in the United Kingdom," and that his ongoing service in the Royal Navy is an invaluable source of preparation for his future with the Royal Bahrain Naval Force.
Following His Highness’ speech, British Ambassador Simon Martin thanked His Highness Shaikh Isa for his kind and thoughtful words and said the British Embassy was proud to receive him as guest of honour and as a representative of His Majesty King Hamad. The Ambassador concluded by expressing his delight in welcoming numerous British and Bahraini guests to mark Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday, in a year that Bahrain and the United Kingdom celebrate 200 years of friendship.
