HM King, Egyptian President visit National Museum

Manama, Aug 30 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi today visit Bahrain National Museum, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa. They were received upon arrival to the museum by Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa and senior BACA officials. HM the King and President Al-Sisi held cordial talks which centered on strong historic relations binding Bahrain and Egypt. HM the King then hosted a dinner banquet in honour of the Egyptian leader and the accompanying delegation. The two leaders then toured the Bahrain National Museum and were briefed by (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa on the exhibition and photos showcasing the unique Pearl Trail, which features on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites. It is also the cornerstone of efforts aimed at renovating the old town in the governorate of Muharraq. The Pearl Trail exhibition, being held at the Bahrain National Museum, showcases the envisioned architectural site through miniatures, photos, studies conducted on the project. Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa stressed the BACA drive to implement the directives of HM the King to document Bahrain’s longstanding culture and civilization and protecting them as a source of inspiration for future generations. President Abdul Fatah El-Sisi wrote few words in the VIP visitor book. He expressed delight in visiting the Bahrain National Museum, which is of the oldest in the Arabian Gulf region, where Bahrain’s history is displayed. He said the museum plays a vital role in disseminating culture and hosting cultural and artistic shows from around the world. It represents Bahrain’s efforts to preserve its heritage and civilization, expressing his admiration of the museum as a cultural masterpiece of a unique architectural design. He wished the Bahraini people further progress and prosperity under the royal leadership. HM the King and Egyptian President attended an artistic night held to mark his visit to the museum.
