HM King Hamad receives Arab League Secretary General designate

Cairo, Apr. 27 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa underlined Bahrain's support to all steps taken by the Arab League to consolidate relations and boost cooperation between its member states. He praised the Arab League's role in meeting the Arab aspirations amid regional developments which require concerted efforts to face challenges. HM the King was speaking as he received in Cairo today Arab League Secretary General designate Ahmed Abul Gheit. He took pride in strong and deep-rooted fraternal ties binding Bahrain and Egypt, praising his successful visit to Egypt and discussions with Egyptian President Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi. HM King Hamad congratulated Abul Gheit on being elected as Arab League Secretary General, lauding his wealth of diplomatic and political experience which will enable him to perform his duties competently amid the critical circumstances undergone by the Arab region. He wished him every success in promoting Arab solidarity and defending Arab issues. HM the King discussed with Abul Gheit developments on the Arab scene, underscoring the key role of the Arab League in tackling challenges. The Arab League Secretary General designate expressed thanks and gratitude to HM the King for Bahrain's support to his nomination for the Arab League Secretary General post. He also commended Bahrain's honourable stances in defending Arab issues, pledging to do his utmost and use his diplomatic experience to serve the interests of the Arab nation.
