HM King issues statement upon arrival in Doha

Doha, Dec. 9 -- (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on Tuesday arrived in the State of Qatar heading the Kingdom's delegation to the 35th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Supreme Council Summit which begins later today. His Majesty the King was welcomed upon arrival at Doha International Airport by the Emir of the State of Qatar His Highness Shaikh Tameem bin Hamad Al Thani, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir's Personal Representative HH Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, Deputy Emir HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, Shura Council's chairman Mohammed bin Mubarak Al-Khlaifi, GCC Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Qatari government ministers and the ambassadors of the two countries. His Majesty the King gave the following statement: "We are glad to always express our comfort and delight whenever our meeting is renewed in the State of Qatar and our meeting with our brother His Highness Sheikh Tameem bin Hamad Al Thani the Emir of the State of Qatar, whose management and wisdom has enabled the brotherly people of Qatar to advance in vast, fast strides towards remarkably substantial prosperity and development in all fields of economic development and growth. The convening of the 35th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)'s Supreme Council Summit in Doha affirms the keenness of all of our countries and our appreciation of the State of Qatar and His Highness Shaikh Tameem bin Hamad Al Thani's diligence on bolstering mutual Gulf cooperation in all spheres under the revitalized solid brotherly bonds which join us for the welfare of the citizens of the GCC states. We should point out that what binds us with our brethren in Qatar is a lot and emanates from close solid ties between the two brotherly countries and peoples, and we are always glad with this meeting in Qatar and we wish the brotherly Qatari people further progress and prosperity. We are also glad with this meeting between Their Majesties and Highnesses, and therefore, we emphasise our aspiration to our countries and peoples' unity, towards more development, stability, free dignified livelihood based upon justice, aimed at prosperity, prevailed by trust in a better future. Undoubtedly today we are in front of new transformations, big challenges, intertwined relations in the world, which had direct impact on our countries and citizens and this makes us more insistent on moving forwards in boosting our blessed Gulf march, and to seriously and profoundly seek to develop techniques of joint Gulf cooperation and work, activate the role of the Gulf Cooperation Council in a manner to be felt by the citizen of the Gulf in his daily living, achieve his aspirations and hopes in rapprochement, cohesion and cooperation, promote him to integration and union, in pace with fast global transformations, whilst taking into consideration in all of our steps to accomplish all our mutual ambitions and interests and to express the firm principles that we uphold. Whence, we are looking forward that the meetings of the 35th Supreme Council in the sisterly State of Qatar, will be a bright landmark in order to achieve more accomplishments which boost the position of GCC citizens through faith in Allah, reliance on science and knowledge as pillars to achieve advancement, growth and prosperity. We beseech Almighty Allah to bestow success to our blessed march in order to achieve our aspirations and to meet the aspirations of our peoples and Allah is the source of all success." The Mission of Honour was headed by the State of Qatar's Minister of State Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser Al Thani.
