HM King to preside over ceremony to raise nine-tiered umbrella

BANGKOK, Oct 18 (TNA) - His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun will preside over the ceremony of placing the Great White Nine-Tiered Umbrella of State atop the Royal Crematorium at Sanam Luang today. The grand nine-tiered umbrella weighs about 80 kilograms and is 5.10 metres high and about 1.2 metres wide. This part will be raised to the top of the 50.5-meter crematorium of HM late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The ceremony, which will mark the official completion of the royal crematorium construction, will take place at 5 pm. and the Television Pool of Thailand will broadcast live the event. Certain roads around Sanam Luang will be closed to traffic from 2 pm onwards. (TNA)
