Hosting Manama Dialogue Summit commended

Manama, Sept. 3 (BNA): The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) said it is hosting a roundtable for ambassadors of 20 countries participating in the 14th Manama Dialogue Regional Security Summit on October 26-28.  They will discuss how to make best use of the Summit in the interests of the participants and the event. The half-day roundtable will cover the overarching theme of the event ‘The re-ordering of the Middle East’ and the detail of each of its sessions. It will examine countries’ key delegates lists so that ambassadors are better equipped to arrange bilateral meetings for their Governments’ delegations. Important logistic aspects will also be explained.  Lt-general (retired) Sir Tom Beckett, IISS Middle East Executive Director said, "We have three sessions that will elicit discussions on global and regional foreign policies and practices as they affect the Middle East. We will also look at the nature of the region’s power and influence."  "By hosting this roundtable, we revive a tradition of helping ambassadors convey to their capitals accurate information about the summit so that they can contribute to their delegations’ participation and, consequently, reap the most benefits possible from their on-site and post-summit interactions." Bahrain has hosted the Manama Dialogue since 2004, and the IISS Middle East office since 2010. Also known as the IISS Regional Security Summit, the largest security event in the region brings together government and non-government participants to discuss the most topical defence, foreign policy and security challenges of the Middle East.
