Housing Minister receives UNDP official

Manama, June 4 (BNA): Housing Minister Bassim bin Yacoub Al Hamer has received UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative Ameen Al Sharkawi. They discussed latest developments in preparation of Bahrain’s first national voluntary review of its implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs2030) which will be presented to the high-profile political forum at the UN Economic and Social Council in July. The minister stressed the ministry’s full keenness to providing all means of technical support and data needed to review Bahrain’s successful housing experience. The Kingdom of Bahrain already included 78% of the UN-SDGs programme in the Government Action Plan. Bahrain is currently implementing five fully-integrated residential cities, including educational, health, security and commercial amenities. The UNDP official praised the ministry’s efforts and cooperation regarding the preparation of the Kingdom’s report.
