HRH Crown Prince awards 2018 Bahrain Grand Prix winners

Manama, Apr. 8 (BNA): HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, this evening presented the race trophies to the winners of the 2018 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, the champion Sebastian Vettel from Scuderia Ferrari, the runner up Valtteri Bottas from Mercedes-AMG Petronas, and the third placed Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes-AMG Petronas. HRH the Crown Prince presented the awards to the drivers at a formal ceremony, marking the end of the 14th instalment of the Bahrain Grand Prix, the second race in the 2018 Formula 1 calendar. Prior to the race, HRH the Crown Prince, alongside HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and HH Shaikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of the Bahrain Athletics Federation, HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Deputy Chairman of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club High Committee, toured the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) to observe the final preparations, and meet the teams and spectators. Reflecting on this year’s race, HRH the Crown Prince spoke of Bahrain’s pride at having hosted another successful Grand Prix at the home of motorsport in the region. HRH the Crown Prince highlighted that with another high turnout over the race weekend, the Bahrain Grand Prix remains a key fixture within the Formula 1 calendar and continues to attract fans from the Kingdom and around the world. HRH the Crown Prince noted that the Bahrain Grand Prix represents an important component of the Kingdom’s sustainable development strategy, highlighting the impact of the race on employment growth, the expansion of the tourism sector and the generation of new opportunities for local businesses. HRH the Crown Prince concluded by highlighting the contribution of the local community, volunteers and the dedicated staff at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), whose combined efforts are instrumental to the success of the race each year and ensure the Grand Prix continues to deliver significant economic benefits beyond the track. HRH the Crown Prince attended the start of the race along with HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa and HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa.
