HRH Premier calls for enhancing Bahrain-UK economic cooperation

Manama, Apr. 12 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has affirmed the kingdom's keenness to strengthen relations and cooperation with Britain commensurate with the long history of bilateral ties, which extend to 200 years. Those long-standing relations should culminate in more investments and economic, cultural, education and technological cooperation, he said, lauding the advanced level of cooperation between the two countries on facing the current threats to the regional security through supporting international efforts to combat terrorism and maintain global security and peace. HRH Premier stressed that the strong foundations on which the Bahrain-UK relations are based paved the way for a broader cooperation, at the bilateral and international levels, especially regarding security and stability. The Prime Minister lauded the role played by the British experts in Bahrain's nation-building and development march, calling for consolidating joint trade and economic cooperation and paving the way for projects between Bahraini and British companies. HRH Premier welcomed all creative initiatives that add value to the Bahrain-UK cooperation, noting that the kingdom encourages investors in the two countries to avail of the stimulating investment atmosphere and the promising economic and investment opportunities in Bahrain and the United Kingdom and increase the number of joint investments for the best interests of the two friendly peoples. Reviewing with the UK envoy the latest regional and global issues of common interest, HRH Premier emphasised that security and stability are the pillars of development. Maintaining security is a collective responsibility that should be assumed by everyone amid the current threats that affect all, HRH Premier said, highlighting the effective role played by Bahrain in backing efforts led by brotherly and allied countries to maintain security and stability in the region. Ambassador Simon Martin voiced pride in the deep-rooted Bahraini-British relations and the keenness of the government, led by HRH Premier, to boost those ties and develop them further, expressing his country's desire to open up wider horizons of bilateral cooperation.
