HRH Premier chairs working meeting

Manama, June 26 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa chaired, at the Gudaibiya Palace today, a working meeting devoted to following up on the executive steps taken so far to activate the work of the government-parliamentary committee in charge of re-discussing the two pension laws.
The executive-legislature committee is within the government’s keenness to give top priority to the pension issue through reaching consensual visions on it with the Legislative Branch, in line with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s directives to finalise the matter as soon as possible.
HRH the Prime Minister ordered the government delegation to the pension laws’ re-think committee, led by the Finance Minister and including the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister, the Labour and Social Development Minister and Parliament Affairs Minister, to cooperate fully with the representatives of the Legislative Branch, and to initiate coordination steps with the Council of Representatives and the Shura Council for holding the committee’s first meeting.
The Prime Minister gave directives to attach utmost interest to the retirement issue, given its importance to the citizens, stressing that the government is keen to harness all its potentials and resources to serve the citizens and provide the best for them.
HRH Premier underlined the government’s interest in the sustainability of pension and insurance funds and in the protection of the retirees’ rights through developing effective programmes that support the work of such funds and improve the services delivered to retirees.
HRH Premier reviewed visions on ways to achieve the government’s goals regarding pension and insurance funds.
