HRH Premier congratulated on WHO recognition

Manama, Apr.29 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa received a letter from World Health Organisation (WHO) Director general Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesu, who hailed the Government’s dedicated efforts to develop comprehensive healthcare in Bahrain.
Supreme Council for Health (SCH) President Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa extended congratulations to HRH the Premier on the international recognition. He commended the HRH the Premier’s efforts to achieve full health coverage for citizens and residents, in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
He hailed the WHO director-general’s letter as an international vote of confidence for the decades-long efforts of the Government, chaired by HRH the Premier. He underlined the importance of the National Health Plan (2016-2025), which reflects Bahrain’s drive and commitment to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and provide comprehensive health coverage.
He stressed the Government’s drive to implement viable health policies, and optimize the use of human resources, hailing the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.
He outlined key projects spearheaded by the Government, citing particularly the National Health Insurance scheme as well as the National Health Information System (I-Seha), which allows users to book their medical appointments online with the General Clinics at the Health Centers and to reschedule or cancel the upcoming appointments as well as to view the pending and the past medical appointments in all Ministry of Health Institutions.
The SCH president stressed the importance of the National Health Insurance scheme, in promoting sustainable medical services, expressing the hope that the project would be issued soon. He highlighted the Government’s drive to promote the good governance of the health sector, overhaul and modernise laws, encourage investments in the private sector and bolster the capabilities of the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) to perform its oversight role.
