HRH Premier directs to build 5,000 housing units

Manama, Oct. 8 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has issued directives to start work in the East Sitra Housing Projects to build 5,000 units before the end of this year. The project will implement the royal directives, and achieve the goals set in the Government Action Plan, he said, adding that the project should be funded through international partnership in cooperation and coordination with the Eskan Bank. HRH Premier tasked the Housing Ministry to cooperate with the Ministry of Finance and the other relevant parties to take the necessary procedures in this regard. He also requested the Ministerial Committee for Urbanisation and Infrastructure, and the Ministerial Committee for Financial Affairs and Rationalising Expenditure to follow up on the matter. HRH the Prime Minister affirmed that the government will intensify its housing projects and programmes, being strongly resolved to bring about a positive change in the planning, construction and management of Bahraini cities to improve the citizens’ standards of living. The Prime Minister issued his directives marking the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III), set to take place in Quito, Ecuador.
