HRH Premier holds discussions with Thai counterpart

Bangkok, Oct. 7 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa called on the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) summit to stand decisively against laws encroaching on countries sovereign immunity and which are a source of great concern for the international community due to their repercussions on international relations and cooperation.
HRH the Prime Minister made the remarks at a meeting with his Thai counterpart Prayut Chan-o-cha during a visit to the Thai government headquarters in Bangkok. He was received on arrival by the Thai Premier and senior officials.
HRH the Prime Minister and his Thai counterpart asserted the rejection of any dictated policies pertaining to the internal affairs of countries and called for maintaining social cohesion by steering clear of any religious or doctrinal fanaticism affecting national unity. They also underscored keenness on bolstering bilateral relations and cooperation, mainly in the political, economic and social fields.
The Thai Premier commended HRH the Prime Minister's wisdom and statesmanship, lauding his outstanding regional and international role which set a model to emulate.
HRH the Prime Minister expressed in the Visitors' Book at the Thai government's headquarters his appreciation of the advanced level of bilateral relations and keenness to boost them at all levels.
Then, a session of official talks was held between the Bahraini and Thai sides under the chairmanship of the two Prime Ministers. HRH the Premier conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the King of Thailand, government and people as well as his best wishes of more progress and prosperity to Thailand. He presented his Thai counterpart with an invitation to visit Bahrain, praising security and stability in the Kingdom of Thailand thanks to the government's successful policies in this respect.
HRH the Prime Minister and his Thai counterpart expressed satisfaction at growing relations and cooperation between both countries mainly in the economic and investment fields, urging to activate agreements and joint committees to further promote trade cooperation and joint ventures.
The Bahraini and Thai sides reviewed tourism cooperation, mainly therapeutic tourism, with an increase in the number of Bahraini people visiting Thailand as a therapeutic destination. They also spotlighted bilateral cooperation in the cultural and educational fields, stressing its importance in enriching knowledge. Both sides also agreed to promote cooperation between both countries in the transportation sector for its positive impact on tourism.
Both sides reviewed the overall regional and international situation, stressing the need to further consolidate cooperation between the GCC countries and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and pointing the importance of ACD summit in this regard. They also underlined the need for more international cooperation to deter terrorism, stressing continuous cooperation between Bahrain and Thailand in this respect.
The Thai Premier held a lunch banquet in honour of HRH the Prime Minister which was attended by members of the Bahraini delegation and senior Thai officials.
