HRH Premier to patronise 44th Bahrain Arts Exhibition

Manama, Jan. 16 (BNA): Under the auspices of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) will tomorrow organise the 44th edition of the Bahrain Fine Arts Exhibition.
The expo will be held in the tent set by BACA next to Arad Fort as part of the events accompanying the "Muharraq as Capital of Islamic Culture 2018".
Artistic works of 53 artists, including Bahrainis and residents, will be displayed during the event.
The artworks presented by artists will tackle various subjects using different means and techniques, such as painting, photography, installation, sculpture and others.
A competition, supervised by an international jury, will be held during the opening ceremony. There will be three winners. The first will receive the "Al-Dana" award, designed by artist Khalil Al-Hashimi, while the second will have the opportunity to showcase their work during a one-month expo at the Art Centre. Meanwhile, the third winner will showcase their artwork abroad.
The annual fine art exhibition proves HRH Premier’s belief in art as a means to bring about a positive impact on society.
Held under his patronage since 1972, the event reflects the Prime Minister’s keenness on supporting the cultural movement in the kingdom.
The results of the 6th Bahrain International Sculpture Symposium, held at the Bahrain National Museum under the supervision of world-renowned Egyptian fine artist and sculptor Adam Hanin for 10 days, will be also be presented.
Established in 1972, the Bahrain Fine Art Exhibition has now evolved into a popular yearly gathering of artists, from all over the country, all eager to showcase their talent and work completed so far throughout their careers.
Every year, the fine arts exhibition acts as an innovative form for debate in which the different artistic monologues will have an exclusive opportunity to communicate according to the forms chosen, from calligraphy to surrealism and abstract and modernist representations to more traditional cultural expressions. It provides an opportunity to highlight different schools of thought, artists’ perceptions and ideological backgrounds.
