HRH Premier receives speaker

Manama, Mar. 20 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa received at the Gudaibiya Palace today the Speaker of the Council of Representatives Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla, in the presence of MP Adel Abdulrahman Al-Assoomi. HRH Premier affirmed the key and pivotal role played by the Council of Representatives in enhancing democracy, being among the basic pillar of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's National Project. The government always considers the Council of Representatives as an essential partner in the national action process, and cooperates with it based on the fact that what it raises stems from the citizens' needs and aspirations, HRH Premier said. HRH the Prime Minister lauded the existing constructive cooperation between the Executive and the Legislative branches and their keenness to work as a team in order to bring about more achievements that benefit the nation and the citizens. The Prime Minister reviewed with the Speaker a number of issues pertaining to Government-Parliament cooperation, within the framework of the existing coordination and consultation between the two constitutional branches. The Speaker expressed, on behalf of MPs, sincere thanks and appreciation to HRH Premier for his interest in enhancing the legislative and supervisory roles of the Council of Representatives. The landmark parliamentary achievements could never have been attained without the constant support of HRH the Prime Minister and his strong belief in the importance of the national role played by the Council of Representatives, Al-Mulla said.
