HRH Premier's initiative lauded

New York, Aug. 3 (BNA): A renowned international official hailed the initiative of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa which culminated in the UN General Assembly’s declaration of April 5th as an “International Day of Conscience” to motivate the international community to resolve conflicts peacefully. The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations High Representative Miguel Moratinos expressed support to the resolution issued by the UN General Assembly on boosting the culture of peace, love and conscience, commending Bahrain’s commitment to the resolution. In a press release posted on the official website of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, Moratinos praised the UN resolution as a means to rally the international community’s efforts to promote peace, tolerance, integration, understanding and solidarity. He said those are the essential values adopted by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations to build a just, peaceful and integrated community and achieve goal 16 of the sustainable development plan 2030. The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations High Representative affirmed support to declaring the 5th of April an “International Day of Conscience”, expressing keenness on cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain to mark the day. The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), headquartered in New York, the USA, was founded in 2005. It is an international organisation that seeks to galvanise international action against extremism through the forging of international, intercultural and inter-religious dialogue and cooperation. The annual Alliance of Civilisations Forum is a key event that brings together Heads of States, Prime Ministers, senior officials, non-government organisations and representatives of different religions, youth organisations, mass media and academics to exchange visions and experiences.
