HRH Princess to patronise Bahraini Women's Day

Manama, Nov. 29 (BNA): Under the auspices of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council of Women (SCW), the Council will officially celebrate the Bahraini Women’s Day in honour of Bahraini Women in the Engineering Professions. The event takes place on Saturday, December 2, and crowns a whole year teeming with numerous activities organized by the SCW with its partners, shedding light on latest progress and achievements in various fields. The celebration also documents the Kingdom’s women quantum achievements that directly contributed into the overall developmental renaissance and pushing forward through women’s presence and progression in the engineering field of work. On the side-lines of the Bahraini Women’s Day, the Women in Engineering Professions conference will be held in association with the Bahrain Society of Engineers, in addition to the forum on the "Role of Academic Guidance and Enlightenment" in boosting the sustainability of women’s working in the engineering fields. The conference will be held in collaboration with the Bahrain Authority for Quality in Education and Training alongside with several relevant focus groups regarding potential opportunities and challenges fronting women in the engineering sector as well as awareness lectures slated to be presented in secondary girls’ schools in the Kingdom, among sundry activities. The Supreme Council of Women (SCW) also held several meetings with its partners from the public and private sectors to boost the quality of Bahraini Women in Engineering Professions output and ensure highest qualitative and quantitative presence of women in this vital field that will reflect positively in the nation’s aspired progress and prosperity. Bahraini women in the engineering fields will be officially honoured by the SCW in consideration for their considerable contributions over the past forty years. Bahrain women have become professional engineers since the 1940s in general, and particularly in the fields of chemical and civil engineering since 1977, architectural engineering since 1978, and agricultural and electrical engineering since 1979. The Bahraini Women’s Day, thanks to the successful experiences accumulated over the last nine years since the Bahraini Women’s Day was officially announced as a national occasion to be marked on December 1, on which Bahraini women are honoured every year in the educational, health, voluntary work, athletics, journalism and the media, the military, banking and legal and judicial fields. The Bahraini Women’s Day is one of the widely-acclaimed national occasions celebrated by all the official and private bodies in Bahrain as major opportunity to shed light on the Bahraini Women’s contributions in accelerating the national development wheel in the various fields and levels. The first of December was proclaimed in honour of the Bahraini women at the initiatives of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council of Women in agreement with the Bahraini Women’s Union and women’s various societies and committees during consultation meetings in this regard.
