HRH Princess Sabeeka to open BIGS tomorrow

Manama, Feb. 23 (BNA): The stage is set for nature lovers as Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) will open tomorrow (February 24) at Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre under the theme "Tree Care". The event will be held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Consultative Council of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD). This year's exhibition will focus on agricultural concepts and skills of looking after trees in order to prevent agricultural mistakes. Visitors will have explanations and practical applications on ways of taking care of fruitful and beautification trees, including earth preparation, irrigation, fertilization, trimming...etc. BIGS is considered as one of the leading quality exhibitions regionally and internationally which usually attracts experts from various sectors as well as amateur and professional farmers and students. It is organised by NIAD in cooperation with Tamkeen and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO). More than 155 exhibitors are expected to showcase their agricultural designs, products and technologies over an area of 7000 sqm. The event is considered an international promotion platform of cutting edge agricultural technologies and applications. It is also regarded as an opportunity to project the goals and output of NIAD which was inaugurated by HRH Princess Sabeeka in March 2010.
