Hua Hin municipality ready for flood
PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, Aug 27 (TNA) -- Prachaup Khiri Khan province's Hua Hin Municipality is dredging shallow canals in preparations for the flood that could be caused by the southern monsoon season.
Hua Hin Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul said that during the months of August until November of every year is known as the southern monsoon season, prompting the municipality to prepare ahead in case of heavy flooding which usually occur at the same time annually.
He said the municipal office has already coordinate with concerned agencies to quickly inspect various waterways which have changed directions due to the rapid modernisation of the city to ensure that excess water would be able to flow through city smoothly.
Moreover, the office has further carried out a study on areas at risk of being flooded in order to install water pumps in time for the heavy downpours.
Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works, Town and Country Planning has allocated a budget of 270 million baht for to develop a project to prevent flooding in Hua Hin resort town, in which the project is believed to help solve flooding problems in the city in the long run. (TNA)
